We advise against holiday and other non-essential travel to Brazzaville and Pointe Noire and against all travel to other parts of the Republic of the Congo.
Brazzaville is currently calm following the 1998/99 civil war. Life is slowly returning to some degree of normality. But the security in the country is uncertain, and remains volatile in isolated areas. Pointe Noire appears stable.
There is no resident British diplomatic mission in the Republic of Congo. The British Honorary Consul in Brazzaville, Mr Dominique Picard, (tel: +242 88 44904) can only offer a limited service.
The British Embassy, Kinshasa, is accredited to The Republic of the Congo; their contact details are: British Embassy, Avenue du Roi Baudoin (ex Avenue Lemera) Gombe, Kinshasa; (tel: +243 88 46102, +871 144 7752 (satellite); or fax: +871 144 7753 (satellite); e-mail: ambrit@ic.cd.
